Dear Friends:
It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone as the United Hospital Fund (UHF) hosts is 2025
gala.
My Administration is fighting every day to build a metropolis that ensures all New Yorkers have
access to high-quality health care for themselves and their families. That is why my team and I
expanded lifestyle programming across public hospitals, helped more than 12,000 families
through our broadened doula and midwifery services, and broke ground on a community health
center in Far Rockaway—one of our city’s historically medically-underserved areas. UHF has
played a critical role in this effort by strengthening coverage through its Health Insurance Project
and providing up-to-date data and analysis. In this spirit of collaboration, I shine a spotlight on
its Clinical-Community Partnerships (CCP), which emphasize the nonmedical factors that affect
health outcomes. Among these programs that tackle a wide range of issues, from Medicare
access to the evolving needs of caregivers, is “Pediatric Steps to Literacy, One Book at a Time,”
which enhances the social-emotional success and foundational reading skills of its participants.
On the occasion of today’s event, I recognize UHF for its commitment to empowering New
Yorkers, encouraging communal advocacy through research, and ensuring equitable treatment
throughout our care system.
On behalf of 8.5 million New Yorkers, please accept my best wishes for a memorable evening
and further success.
